Herman Upmann was a banker from Germany who so loved Cuban cigars that he moved to Havana in 1844 and set up as both banker and cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920's but his cigars live on as a fine example of an elegant,light to medium flavoured Habano.
H. Upmann's blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.
H. Upmann cigars are light to medium in flavour, totally handmade using long filler with all leaves sourced from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, widely regarded as the best tobacco growing land in the world.
MAGNUM 52 YEAR OF THE TIGER
The H. Upmann Magnum 52 has been launched by Habanos SA in celebration of the Chinese lunar year of the tiger.
The cigars are presented in special lacquered boxes each containing 18 cigars and represent the third year in a row that a cigar has been made for this auspicious event.
Technically the Magnum 52 is a unique size within the Habanos SA portfolio, measures 5 7/8” (148mm) x 52 ring gauge. However, if it appears familiar it may be due to its similarity with the Cohiba Siglo VI, being just 2mm shorter and sharing a 52 ring gauge.
Although created for the Chinese market these cigars are available worldwide and seem sure to prove popular with cigar smokers and collectors across the globe.
Mr. Leopoldo Cintra González, Commercial Vice President, and Mr. José María López Inchaurbe, Vice President of Development at Habanos, S.A. said "We are pleased to commemorate the Chinese New Year for the third consecutive year with a vitola such as “Magnum 52″ under the H.
